Starting this week, fans of British Airways cuisine are able to order First Class meals delivered to their homes. This is thanks to a new partnership between The World's Favourite Airline, Austrian gourmet caterer DO & CO and Feast Box. Each meal kit includes a four-course menu inspired by the luxurious cuisine served on board, and customers can choose between vegetarian, fish and meat dishes in their kit. The catch? You will have to prepare, plate and serve the food yourself!
The idea behind the new concept is based on BA customers longing to travel once again, but not being able to do so ... yet. Customers who order the meal kits will receive the full ingredients – as used in First Class dishes - to cook the meal at home, along with a recipe sheet and an information card in the form of a passport. While new to British Airways, a similar concept is also available elsewhere - including from Singapore Airlines, which offers home delivery of both First Class and Business Class meals to customers in Singapore.
Many of the elements in the British Airways meal kits are expertly pre-prepared by DO & CO chefs, so everything comes together quite easily, with an estimated cooking time of 45 to 60 minutes. Highlights include Loch Fyne smoked salmon, slow-cooked British beef cheeks, handmade agnolotti, a cheese board and delicious desserts.
Each First Dining Experience box contains four courses and serves two people. Both the outer and interior packaging of the meal kits consists of recyclable, compostable and biodegradable materials.
Every British Airways box booked before May 21st comes with a voucher giving 10% off a future flight booking. Used wisely, the saving can easily outweigh the cost of the meal box.
Meal kits start at £80 and serve two people. They can be ordered from Feast Box for delivery anywhere on the UK mainland, England, Wales, and Scotland, but excludes offshore areas or Northern Ireland.
