The national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia - Saudia - has unveiled its new lie-flat seats for the premium cabin of its A321XLR fleet - and they look rather familiar.
The airline has 15 Airbus A321XLRs on order and they are expected to enter service in 2024. The A321XLR is Airbus’ new long haul narrow body jet and Saudia will fit the same seat as used by JetBlue and it's Mint offering.
The Suite gives significantly more privacy than Saudia's current Business Class seats, increased storage space and most importantly, includes a sliding door to the aisle. The seat can be reclined fully into bed mode and also features an 18” screen for enhanced viewing.
“We at Saudi Airlines are committed to finding new and innovative ways to improve the experience of guests on board our aircraft. We believe that the new Vintage Solo seat will enhance the levels of comfort, privacy and luxury that characterise Saudi Airlines,” says Captain Ibrahim Al-Kashi, CEO of Saudi Airlines “The addition reflects in Business Class, we remain committed to developing our products and services to provide an exceptional travel experience supported by the latest world-leading technology.”
The Skyteam-member airline has also anounced that it has ordered a fleet of new Boeing B787 Dreamliner aircraft, with 24 business class seats, that will join Saudia's fleet this year, along with the latest Airbus A321NX aircraft, that offers 20 business class seats.
With its fleet of 142 aircraft, Saudia currently flies to over 100 destinations across four continents. It will use its new A321 fleet for destinations across the Indian subcontinental, Africa and Europe - including Barcelona, Brussels, Milan, Rome, Dakar, and Maldives.
