United Airlines has confirmed the new Polaris Business Class seating will be introduced to the airline’s Boeing 767-400 fleet by summer 2023 – ensuring all of United’s international wide-body aircraft will feature the premium Business Class product.
The Polaris Business Class product was first launched in 2016, winning plaudits for its direct aisle access, elevated meal service and sleep accessories. And now, the airline will retrofit its 16 Boeing 767-400s by the spring of 2023 – bringing an end to United’s Polaris retrofit project – with the first of these reconfigured aircraft due to enter service shortly.
The new Business Class cabins will also see improvements to the lavatories, new LED cabin lighting, updated seatback Panasonic in-flight entertainment systems and in-seat AC and USB power throughout all cabins.
The reconfigured 767-400s will see an overall reduction of nine seats throughout the aircraft compared to the existing configuration, with the Business Class cabin seeing five fewer seats. However, the airline will also introduce 24 Premium Plus seats – not previously offered on the 767-400s.
The Boeing 767-400 Business Class cabin will now feature 34 reimagined lie-flat Polaris seats in a 1-1-1 configuration, enjoying a seat pitch of 77 inches (196 centimetres) and a seat width of 20 to 22 inches (50 to 56 centimetres).
