United Airlines has introduced a new domestic First Class seat that incorporates wireless charging capabilities in each armrest.
The United First seat is equipped with a range of enhanced features, including vegan leather upholstery, spacious 13-inch seatback screens, 18-inch tray tables, Bluetooth connectivity, privacy screens, and an ergonomist-designed cushion.
The debut of the seat will start this month on the first 737 aircraft, and throughout the summer, customers can expect to see its rollout across various flights. United Airlines aims to equip more than 200 domestic planes, including 737 NGs, A321neos, and 737 MAXs, with the United First seat by the end of 2026.
The new United First seats offer - simultaneous charging of multiple devices. Passengers can conveniently charge multiple electronic devices at once using the three types of charging docks available in each seat—wireless, AC household-style outlet, and USB-C. The wireless charger is placed within the armrest compartment, providing passengers with line-of-sight to notifications and freeing their hands and tray table.
Enhanced seatback entertainment. Recognising the growing demand for a two-screen experience, United Airlines has upgraded its seatback screens to spacious 13-inch, high-definition displays that are Bluetooth-enabled. For passengers unable to reach the touch screen, a remote control is provided. This ensures a user-friendly and enjoyable entertainment experience.
Ample space for work & relaxation: The redesigned seats offer designated areas for devices, food, drinks, and other belongings, allowing passengers to fully immerse themselves in their journey. The larger 18 x 8.5-inch tray table includes a built-in tablet holder and offers sufficient space for most standard laptops. Additionally, Italian quartzite cocktail tables and bottle holders positioned between each seat eliminate the need to balance gadgets, beverages, and snacks on a single tray table.
Enhanced privacy and adjustable seating. Passengers can enjoy heightened privacy in the spacious seats adorned with vegan leather upholstery. An 11 x 19-inch divider separates neighboring seats, while winged headrests and tray tables deploy from the outer armrests, reducing contact between passengers. The seat also features a 5-inch recline range, an adjustable aisle armrest that can be lowered completely, and an ergonomist-designed seat cushion that sits 1 inch lower to accommodate passengers of varying heights.
In addition to introducing the new seats, United Airlines plans to update existing domestic First Class seats on over 200 planes by 2025. Select 737, A319, and A320 aircraft will undergo a redesign that includes new seat cushions, vegan leather upholstery, and winged headrests.
